Kokurikozaka Kara

...or From Up On Poppy Hill if you prefer the English title, is coming to the Swedish cinema!

The Swedish title is " Uppe på Vallmokullen" and will premier on December 21 at Kino in Lund.

This one is a collaboration between Gorou Miyazaki and Hayao Miyasaki.

Why not go see a feel-good story in the winter darkness and support Ghibli in Sweden and Kino?

Aquarion EVOL

I recently finished watching Aquarion EVOL and felt that I had to give a little warning, mostly to the fans of the original series Sousei no Aquarion (Genesis of Aquarion).

(This post is spoiler free but contains my general opinion of the ending)

I won't say what it's about here (please use the ANN link above for a summary) just that it's in some ways a lot like the original series (you will hear the familiar "Aqua~rio~n"-theme every now and then) and in others very different. I'm not a huge fan of Sousei but I thought it was OK. I was more easily swept away by EVOL (sweet romance will do that to me), in the beginning of the show anyway. Sometimes if felt like they were making fun of Sousei... almost like some kind of light parody. As a whole however I did like EVOL it's just that the ending ruined it a bit for me. A bit too unresolved and a bit too silly. And in general I don't approve of conveniently adding story that changes things in the original if it was not planned that way from the beginning. And I doubt that this was.

My warning:
If you're a fan of Sousei no Aquarion and don't want the original story tampered with, do NOTwatch EVOL.
I did like one of the points they made that connected to Sousei (ah sweet romance) but I can imagine old fans not wanting the relationships and reincarnations of the original fiddled with.

The first opening theme for EVOL though - I absolutely love it!

AKINO did the opening for Sousei as well and I would really like for her to release more music!

Momoiro Clover Z

I first heard them singing the opening and ending for the anime Mouretsu Pirates (Mugen no Ai  and LOST CHILD) and liked both songs. Then it was announced that they were going to sing the new Sailor Moon theme next summer and I got hooked on the single (Z Otome Sensou) they released along the announcement as well.Which also came with a couple of catchy coupling songs, PUSH and Mite Mite ☆ Kocchicchi (also an ed theme for Pokemon BW). And their latest single Saraba, Itoshiki Kanashimi-tachi yo (the one below) will be coupled with the new Furby theme song Wee-Tee-Wee-Tee (this song is a bit much for me though) and one more song.
I really like Momoka (green). She's so bubbly cute X3
They had a girls-only-concert in the beginning of October. I wanted to go!

Binbougami ga!

Binbougami ga!
In short I just want to say that this anime is hilarious! (although there is one certain dog I could do without...) It has quite a bit of cameos from other anime, like Dragonball, Medaka Box and a bunch of other ones. Which is actually my reason for this post.

This scene here (ep 9), I can't help it but I just have to comment on this. Tsuwabuki wakes up and sees that the tennis court is now just a hole in the ground and screams "Hyouryuu Kyoushitsu!?". I'm guessing that the translator actually knows that Hyouryuu Kyoushitsu, or The Drifting Classroom, is a manga about a school that gets transported into the future and just leaves a big hole (weird as hell). And then perhaps decided that the reference would be too obscure? I'm guessing that not that many know of the manga or have seen the TV-dorama version called "Long Love Letter" (a lot of actors who are big today were in this dorama) but I still thought is was a bit sad the the reference was completely skipped in the translation. I mean, Tsuwabuki is even drawn in the style from the manga. So funny! XD

Anyway, watch "Binbougami ga!"! (^o^)d

Rurouni Kenshin coming to western cinemas!

This is great news!
I know that a lot of people are clawing at their chairs and what not wanting Rurouni Kenshin to screen in a cinema near them and now some are actually going to get the chance X3

The film has been licensed in over 60 countries and more are being added to the list. Let's just hope that our little Sweden is one of those lucky little pieces of land.

Theatre Fantasy I

I just saw the first cm for the October premier of the first Mahou Shoujo Madoka Magica movie and it inspired me to make a little post about upcoming or currently screening films in Japan, anime as well as theatrical ones. Most of the trailer do NOT have subs!

First up, anime.
Mahou Shoujo Madoka Magica, my favourite series of 2011 has been made into two compilation films that premiers on October 6th and 13th respectively.
The trailer in itself isn't that interesting but I'm a huge fan so I'll be anticipating the DVD-release non the less.

Kita~! New Sailor Moon Anime!

I guess most of you have seen the news already but there is no harm in saying it again :D

Sailor Moon is getting a new anime for summer 2013!

It was announced at the 20th anniversary event last Thursday and has been reported on I don't know how many news sites. A highly anticipated remake! at least by me!
There are a lot of questions but not that many definite answers. There's been mentioning that the new anime is going to be for the original fans and I've also heard some say that it's going to stick more closely to the manga but only time will tell. Since there's a whole year left until we get to see the actual show I guess it'll be a while until we get some more info or actual character designs or frames. They might keep announcing voice casting though. Mamoru and Usagi will be keeping their old voice actors. unfortunately

edit: There was apparently some confusion at the announcement by MomoClo and while they will be singing a theme song for the new anime, their latest single "Z Otome Sensou" is completely unrelated. It is still a very addictive song though :D

But, as far as I know, the official opening theme song for the new show has been announced and even released. It's by Momoiro Clover Z (op/ed for Mouretsu Space Pirates) and called "Z Otome Sensou".

At first I didn't think it suited Sailor Moon at all but I've been listening to it, watching fanmade openings on youtube, and I'm starting to think it may be OK. I'm not completely convinced but it might give the series a new and fresh feeling? (trying to convince myself)

MomoClo was performing in France at the time of the anime announcement but they streamed live from the event, singing both the original opening and the new one. I just wish they didn't sound so bad live...

The song starts at 2:20

Anyway, I'm super exited about the new show and I'm re-watching the original show at the moment. I'm watching with a friend and we decided to only watch the episodes that actually contain story by following this list of essential episodes. So if you're like us and want to see the whole show but don't have the time or patience for all the fillers and silly enemies or simply want to see what the series would be like at a higher pace I really recommend following this episode guide.

How about an Essential-Sailor-Moon-Episodes-Marathon for KodachiCon 2013? Not all of it though because the conventions isn't long enough for that (^ ^)'' But the first season would be great (^ ^)d
